There are many opportunities for students to take part in school trips throughout their time at the school. We aim to offer at least one residential trip to each year group, as well as a selection of day trips.
It is difficult to give the exact cost of some of the trips at this stage, but the estimated costs are usually based on the previous year. However, details will be confirmed by the organisers at the launch of these trips. It is important to note when a student has been allocated a place on a trip, it should be seen as a firm commitment. Some trips are only able to run if there is a sufficient number of students wanting to go.
As we have to pay deposits to the hotels / centres / coach companies etc. in the same way travel companies do, deposits are non-refundable if a replacement cannot be found and the school has to incur the cost. Full payment must be made prior to the trip. Payments should be handed in at the main school office. Cheques should be made payable to The Market Bosworth School, with the student's name and name of the trip on the reverse side of the cheque. Payments can also be made on-line. Students are issued with a payment card and should include this with any payments, as this acts as a receipt card.
Participation in any school trip is dependent upon a record of good behaviour in school. It should be noted that whilst mobile phones are sometimes allowed to be taken on school trips, their use will be restricted during the trip. On residential trips phones are usually collected in overnight and handed back to students for limited use only. Phones and other means of social networking should be used in a responsible way.
We hope you will encourage your child to participate in some of the trips and opportunities available.
At The Market Bosworth School we aim to provide each individual with access to a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum that ensures progression and continuity. The curriculum is enriched by the inclusion of a range of activities and experiences that may take students out of the classroom environment, during normal school hours and outside of normal school time.
When a charge is made for a trip or activity this will be done on the basis of covering costs and will include a small administration charge.
Refunds will be made when it is viable to do so.
The Governing body will ask parents to make a voluntary contribution towards the costs of:
- Activities that take place during the school day that are not part of the normal provision. For example theatre or museum visits.
- Products made by students that they take away with them. For example in Design Technology, a charge will be made to cover the cost of consumable materials.
- All residential trips to cover the cost of board, lodging and transport.
- Instrumental music lessons that are in addition to the normal curricular provision made for all students by the school.
Parents who are in receipt of the following may apply to the Principal in writing for support in allowing their child to take part in a trip or activity :
- Income support
- Income based Jobseeker’s allowance
Where there are not enough voluntary contributions to make the activity possible, and there is no way to make up the short fall, then it must be cancelled.
